The 2012-13 school year kicked off on Thursday, September 6 at Our Lady of the Lake School. A special school mass was celebrated on Friday morning to mark the beginning of the school year. On Friday, September 14 the entire student body, along with the parents, faculty and staff, will come together to celebrate the new year at the annual ice cream social.

Much has changed at Our Lady of the Lake since school began last year. Last September, Our Lady of the Lake was named a 2011 National Blue Ribbon School, an honor that set off a year of reflection on the school’s mission and purpose. The school received re-accreditation from Middle States and improvements were made to the campus, including the installation of a new awning over the school entrance, new directional signs and banner poles. Thanks to New York University’s donation of binocular microscopes and other equipment, the school’s science lab received a major enhancement.

Enrollment at Our Lady of the Lake has increased by almost 33% for the 2012-2013 school year. This year marks the return of two kindergarten classes and two Pre-K4 classes. Even with all these new children, Our Lady of the Lake continues to have class sizes smaller than those in neighboring schools and to pride itself on offering personalized Catholic education.
