Hazard, Young Attea & Associates (HYA), the search firm retained by the Verona Board of Education, has also created a community stakeholder survey that you can complete here. The BOE is asking survey recipients to share this link with friends, neighbors, and family members in the Verona community.
In August, Dr. Rui Dionisio, who had been superintendent in Verona since 2014, announced that he was leaving to head the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District. In September, the BOE invited the New Jersey School Boards Association to Verona to do a presentation on the superintendent selection process. Later that month, the BOE selected Dr. Lydia E. Furnari, a West Caldwell resident, to be interim superintendent while it pursues a successor to Dionisio. The BOE selected HYA to run the search in October.
“We look forward to and encourage community involvement in the engagement phase of the search process,” the BOE said in an email announcing the community forum. “It is our intent to keep the process transparent through updates on the district website and the community information avenues that are currently in place.”
