Maybe you loved the original comic strip, or the black-and-white TV show in the 1960s. Maybe you know Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley and Wednesday from the movies of the 1990s. Whatever the case, you need to know that the musical version of “The Addams Family” will be on stage at Verona High School next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In the VHS version, Wednesday Addams (Maya Fortgang) is growing up and has invited a boy and his family over for the first time. Faced with the challenge of hosting a “normal” dinner, the Addams family tries their best to repress their inner darkness, which is easier said than done. Will a secret ruin the marriage of Gomez (David Karpinski) and Morticia (Gina Gagliano)? Will Uncle Fester (Alex Kosulin) reveal his secret love affair? Will Pugsley (Jack McHugh) find a way to sabotage his sister’s relationship? Where did the potion of Grandmama (Molly Ligon) go? And not to sound rude, but is Lurch (Joey Visone) alive?
Join these timeless characters as they employ the help of their ancestors to win the approval of Lucas (Aidan Callari), Alice (Liz Barile) and Mal (Griffin Willner) Beineke.
The shows are March 7, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m., and there’s a 2 p.m. matinee on March 9 as well. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors, and $12 for adults and you can purchase tickets at the door or online. You can also follow the final rehearsals on the Spotlight Players Instagram page.
